Kaiser and Gismo's Diary Kaiser and Gismo are 2 Purebliss Savannah pets adopted from Purebliss to live as part of a loving family, the following is a diary of the early days/weeks of their pet lives written by their owners/family. Purebliss Kaiser is a brown spotted Savannah kitten (photos below) adopted from Purebliss in October '08............. Hi jacky, I would just like to say thank you so much for kaiser, he is a lot more than we ever hoped for ...............what a little sweetie he is. Well, we had along journey home and yes we hit the rush hour traffic ......................... Kaiser was very good he meowed for the first 10 mins then was quite the rest of the way home. About 10 miles from home i took him out of his box and he just flopped in my arms. He was very interested in the lights of the passing cars, lifting his very long neck up to nosey, I was surprised how long his neck is. Once home i took him straight into the lounge and shut the door so the others didn't rush in and frighten him. After an hour i let Roo in, she was scared! of him but he seemed to like her and wanted to play. Then i let luna in, she went straight over to him giving big kisses which he seemed to like. My maine coon boy was next, he also liked him and started to play with him ......................... cool!! Starr was last, mrs growl and spitter! she went for a sniff and had a spit but this did not bother kaiser, she is all noise and no action. Kaiser slept with us on friday night but the poor little mite just meowed all night, i think he was missing his friends. I kept getting up and giving him a cuddle to reassure him and richard got up at 3.30 and had an hour in the front room playing with him. He did go off to sleep after that, and so did we! Saturday he was fine and his confidence was building, eating and going to the toilet fine. I had them all playing together with the dragonfly toy, Kaiser went mad for it, he made us laugh - when he caught it he would try and run away with it to hide it whilst growling very loudly! By saturday night it was like he had always lived with us, he slept with us again but he just curled up next to me purring all night - this was the first time he had purred since we brought him home. This morning (Sunday) he's one of the gang, he is sat next to me watching me type this. I think he likes me because he is never far away from me - loves me to pick him up for a cuddle and loves sprawl out on me when i'm sat down. He's been asleep curled up with luna this morning - not bad going from friday night! i don't want to go to work and leave him in the morning it's a good job i only work 3 hrs daily! He does talk lots too, in fact sometimes he doesn't shut up, he lets me know if he wants something - like this morning, he could see all the others on the kitchen work top and he was going mad meowing until i picked him up and put him on, then he was happy. Anyway, thank you so much again i will be in touch soon joanne ************************* October 2008 - Occasionally breeders have a kitten born that needs some extra care, and may not be perfect. We had a little Savannah born with some of his insides on the outside. He was born during the weekend in the middle of the night, and we had to work fast. We pushed His bits back in and his mum would lick him and pull them back out again with her tongue. We made a last effort of pushing his insides back in again and this time wrapping tape around his middle to keep everything inside. His mum left the tape alone and he seemed to come on nicely. On the monday morning we asked our vet to check him to see if he needed any stitches. Our vet suggested antibiotics and put the tape back on. He spent most of his young days on antibiotics to stop any infection setting in, and although he didn't grow the same as his brother and sister, he came on well. He didn't wean until later than his brother and sister and when he finally did wean he had problems with processed food so he needed some help with medication. This little Savannah boy was offered to Joanne and below is the update we received plus a photo of the kitten with Kaiser. Hi jacky A quick up date on little? - still searching for a name. What a good little boy he was on the way home, all we had was two little meow 's.......................... I took him out and gave him a cuddle.................. I let him settle for a while before we let the others in, then we let them in one by one so not to frighten him as he was very nervous. There was no spitting or growling from any of them only from him, but he was scared...............We have noticed how he is building his confidence little by little, he now venture's out of the front room and goes for a nosey into the kitchen and conservatory and then runs back really quickly. Kaiser has made friends with him and they chase each other and play, the little one gets excited then he comes and flops on richard or me. He has taken a real shine to Richard he is always laid with him, he sleeps with us and kaiser at night and gets snuggled down on the bed with Kaiser. We have little room to move! We have only had one biting incident! This morning guess who? yes, Richard! As Richard picked him up he bit his bottom lip, he didn't draw blood but oh did we laugh! He is eating well, he likes prawns, although he's not keen on fish. Today he had raw beef mince which he really enjoyed, he seems to prefer his raw food more than processed cat food but i don't mind i think it's better for him. His toilet hasn't been too bad a little runny but ok. I think he just needs time and patience which he will get plenty of, and i think he will make a lovely cat. He is so cheeky, he will come and sit on the computer while we're on it. Just like kaiser he love's watching telly it must be a Savannah thing! I hope you like the pic i'm sending you just look what a giant kaiser looks compared to the miniture........so thanks very much for letting us have him, he's lovely, and he will have good life and want for nothing ..............Joanne Below is another update from Joanne regarding the little Savannah boy with the problem at birth. hi jacky ..........what a lovely little man he's turning out to be - still not decided on a name yet!! I rang the vet on tuesday to register him and kaiser and they were really excited I had them and asked me to take them in after morning surgery so they could have a look. Nicole could not get over how lovely they were and she was very impressed that the little one hasn't got a hernia after having his bits pushed back in, so well done to you....................we've put him on a probiotic..................Wow! he is eating so well and he really loves his biscuits. We are so glad we decided to have him, what a loving little boy he is. He sits on my shoulders for ages and loves to stay up there while i'm doing things. He rubs his face all over mine and is always purring, very loud! He and kaiser sleep with me on a night and they really love each other, Kaiser is always there for him and licks him "to death". When I came home today he was laid on my bed and when he saw me he started rolling on his back loving my hands and having his tummy rubbed, he loves that, and we have not had anymore biting - he he! .........bye for now Joanne November 10 2008 - Look at the photo showing Gismo's tummy - no sign of any problems there - he may not have a tummy button, but hey! i'm sure he can live with that - he he! We are so proud of Gismo surviving his problems at birth so well and now living a life to the full as a much loved pet with Joanne and family hi jacky........we have picked a name, well, our son jamie did, he got sick of us changing our minds! he named him gizmo! ............... it seems to suit him cos he is very cute.............. he seems to be doing really well .................eating well and playing hard, what a hooligan he is when he gets going. ............... he's not shy anymore and no more biting! he looks to have grown alittle too. He does like a good punch up with kaiser, they are like twins, where one is so is the other........ Joanne
Many thanks to Joanne and her family for giving Gismo a wonderful pet life. For spending that extra time and effort required that he needed to be part of her wonderful family of cats. |
